Hilton’s Iconic Luxury Brand Waldorf Astoria and Lifestyle Brand Canopy by Hilton to Debut in Osaka

Dual-brand signing signals confidence and growth opportunities in Japan

Hilton (NYSE: HLT) has signed milestone management agreements with ORIX Real Estate Corporation to bring its iconic luxury brand, Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, as well as its lifestyle brand, Canopy by Hilton to Osaka, Japan. Expected to open in 2025 and 2024 respectively, Waldorf Astoria Osaka and Canopy by Hilton Osaka Umeda will be developed by Orix Real Estate Corporation and managed by Hilton.

Osaka has been a strategic location for Hilton, and this deal reflects the optimism we collectively have in Osaka’s burgeoning travel market, in time for the World Expo in 2025, at which time we will welcome guests with five Hilton-branded hotels in Osaka.”

Both hotels will be situated within the site of the Umekita Second Project, an urban redevelopment project north of Osaka Station which is approximately 50 kilometers from Kansai International Airport and offers excellent access to nearby cities including Kyoto, Nara and Kobe.

Opening in 2025, Waldorf Astoria Osaka will span 12 stories of a 39-story high-rise in the south district of the Umekita Second Project. Canopy by Hilton Osaka Umeda

Canopy by Hilton, Hilton’s first lifestyle brand, is an energizing boutique hotel brand designed to invite the city in, and to ensure that guests have a positive stay whilst enjoying the best of the neighborhood in which it sits. Each hotel is designed as a natural extension of its neighborhood and delivers a fresh approach to hospitality and the guest experience.

Canopy by Hilton Osaka Umeda will be located in a 26-story high-rise in the north district of the Umekita Second Project. Spanning 16 stories, the 308-room hotel will feature Canopy Central with a rooftop bar, the hub of the hotel where guests can feel like an extension of the neighborhood.

The hotel will also have a Transfer Lounge with a fitness center and meeting rooms, and a cafe on the ground level facing the park. Guests looking for an authentic local experience will enjoy the dining experience with menus inspired by the local Osaka culture that will make both guests and locals feel at home.
