The renowned Waldorf Astoria Atlanta Buckhead has announced that it is undergoing a significant renovation project with a target completion date of spring 2022. Honoring Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts’ commitment to culinary excellence and unparalleled guest amenities, the hotel’s transformative renovation will introduce a new signature French brasserie restaurant concept, redesign of its lobby-level social spaces and elevate the spa experience. The renovation will also unveil fully reimagined accommodations including a top-to-bottom refresh of all 127 guest rooms, new luxurious residence-style suites offerings, and a grand new Presidential Suite design.
“We look forward to unveiling our property transformation which further delivers on our commitment to offering guests an unforgettable stay,” said Stephane Mercier, general manager, Waldorf Astoria Atlanta Buckhead. “The Buckhead neighborhood is an area filled with coveted high-end shopping and attractions and Waldorf Astoria Atlanta Buckhead will be a welcome respite for travelers and locals alike, with intriguing culinary and world-class wellness offerings.”
Spearheading the project is noteworthy New York-based design firm, BHDM. With an impressive portfolio of luxury and lifestyle hotel and hospitality projects across the nation, BHDM and its talented team of designers and architects will bring the hotel’s elevated experience to life across the property.
Set to debut first is Brassica, a graceful Southern interpretation of a classic French brasserie, on the lobby level. Guests will enjoy a welcoming yet refined dining experience that weaves together brasserie-style French cooking with regionally sourced ingredients, drawing culinary inspirations from Georgia and the American South. BHDM's design is steeped in rich woods and warm, seductive colors drawing inspiration from both the destination and hotel’s “city within a forest” concept. Featuring design touches that embrace the lush greenery and nature that surrounds Atlanta, Brassica and its intimate bar will reflect a modern brasserie with elegant, renowned Waldorf Astoria Service. Guests can look forward to tableside presentations and dishes such as Duck Rillettes with pickled vegetables, Buttermilk Fried Gulf Oysters, Cast Iron Steak Frites, and the Brassica Roast Chicken for two.
The luxury hotel will introduce the stylish and sophisticated Peacock Alley lounge, which pays homage to the iconic gathering space at the flagship Waldorf Astoria New York, and will showcase a cocktail program focused on telling the story of the American craft cocktail evolution through history. The new cocktail menu will showcase classics like The Waldorf Cocktail, as well as elevated interpretations of familiar favorites like the Sloe Berry Mule. Guests will also feel blissfully at ease in the enchanting and secluded light-filled Solarium—an idyllic setting to enjoy private dining or the hotel’s signature afternoon tea service. Once complete, the newly redesigned lobby level will serve as a haven for locals and guests alike.
To spearhead the new culinary experience at Brassica, the hotel has announced the appointment of Executive Chef Christophe Le Métayer. Le Métayer is a classically trained French chef who has displayed his culinary skills and passion throughout an impressive three-decade career, which spans roles with the former Ritz-Carlton, Buckhead, and his own critically acclaimed restaurants, including the Michelin-recognized Saint Martin outside of Paris. Le Métayer will bring his culinary philosophy of utilizing simple, yet sensory engaging food to the dining experience and is leading his team on developing a new brasserie-inspired menu to complement a refined craft cocktail, spirits, and wine program.
Following the restaurant’s debut, Waldorf Astoria Atlanta Buckhead will reveal an update to its accommodations. All guest rooms will be refreshed with new designs incorporating inviting neutral tones, updated furnishings and stylish linens in partnership with Frette, while all one-bedroom suites will be enhanced with new luxury amenities and offerings. The hotel will also introduce two new spacious one-bedroom Astoria Suites with dedicated kitchenettes, which will have the ability to connect to neighboring rooms using the innovative Confirmed Connecting Rooms by Hilton booking experience, making them more inviting to families and group guests.
The crowning jewel of the room renovation will introduce a newly redesigned grand Presidential Suite, featuring a new kitchen and elegant living spaces. Offering 2,340-square-feet of space, the redesigned suite will offer luxurious amenities such as two private terraces, a serene living room, and dining room, a fireplace, and a palatial master bedroom and bathroom. Guests and families will also have the option to connect the suite with an adjoining room to make it a larger two-bedroom suite.
